Algonquin Lookout

Algonquin park lookout trail; on it, you've got this rocky cliff where the tree canopy below merges with it. This is from a picture taken about 3/4 up, with the top just over to the left.

Another quick study in pallette knife (about 3-4 hours). I like some parts of it better than others; the sky, the far treeline and the rocks/trees at the left look okay to me. The water's a little muddled and the trees in the forground are a little off. One thing I discovered with this one is that though making trees isn't too bad, it's harder to get an above view of trees to look quite right. Still, the result is okay; stylistically it's pretty boring, but I'm learning a lot doing these paintings and I'm sure they'll find walls to hang on somewhere.
